Joanne’s Family Needs Help — Lee

I’m sharing Joanne’s story because no mother should have to carry this much on her own.

Joanne is a single mum raising six children, four of whom have complex additional needs. Every single day is a battle as she works tirelessly to provide the care, stability and support her children need while trying to keep her family afloat both financially and emotionally.

The challenges this family faces are overwhelming.

Joanne’s oldest son lives with schizophrenia, and the family home is severely overcrowded. With not enough space for everyone, Joanne is currently sleeping in the lounge room on a broken air mattress just so her children have somewhere to sleep. Her older daughter lives with bipolar disorder, and together they face daily struggles that take a huge toll on their wellbeing. Joanne is also caring for her 18-year-old son, who battles depression and is on the autism spectrum.

Despite everything, Joanne continues to put her children first every single day.

The family is currently living in a four-bedroom rental property, but Joanne has fallen behind financially and is now facing the very real possibility of eviction. As the sole provider for six children, with no financial support from the children’s father and no family support network to lean on, there are times when even basic necessities become impossible to afford.

I cannot imagine the weight Joanne carries every day trying to protect and care for her children while facing this level of hardship alone.

I’m asking for support to help ease some of that pressure and give this family a chance to breathe.

Funds raised will go towards rent, household bills, food, essential living expenses and helping Joanne create a safer and more stable environment for her children during this incredibly difficult time.

All funds raised will be withdrawn directly by Joanne and used to support her children and cover the family’s immediate living and household expenses.
